For this route, you can leave from the Tourist Office in Ypres (Grote Markt) or from the Tourist Office in Zonnebeke (Berten Pilstraat 5A). During the route you will cycle past many monuments and landscape sites in Ypres, you can relax for a while in the provincial domain De Palingbeek or look at the sun in AstroLAB Iris.
But like just about every other site, the Great War is never far away. En route to the peaceful Polygoonbos (Den Doel), you pass the child-friendly restaurant ‘t Nonnebos and the crater landscape of Hill 60, which commemorates the battle for Ypres in ’14-’18. At the Memorial Museum Passchendaele 1917 in Zonnebeke, children can interactively learn more about that terrible period and visit the trenches.
