Dokke lived next to the Mispelaerebeek (a creek) in the early 1700s and was known as a card reader and palm gazer. The parish suspects her of consorting with the devil. As she is dying, a black goat sits at the end of her bed. Several strange and haunting events happen around her house at that moment.

When the local residents stop hearing and seeing strange thing, they decide to enter Dokke’s house, they find her deceased. Her head is turned backwards, a sign that the devil has twisted her neck. When one of those present makes a sign of the cross and removes Dokke’s hat, the devil flies away hissing. Suddenly, an unbearable smell of sulphur and burning pitch spreads. Now the local residents are sure of Dokke’s dealings with the devil.

At night, the shack burns down, with Dokke’s corpse inside. No one ever dared to build a house on that spot again.
