Léonie Keingiaert
Léonie (6.3%) is a strong-flavoured yet surprisingly smooth and fruity beer, brewed in honor of Léonie Keingiaert, Belgium’s first female mayor, who was appointed in Geluveld 100 years ago.
A bold beer
The beer’s flavor is designed to reflect the character of this remarkable lady: bold and robust, yet with a slightly bitter aftertaste. The addition of Nepalese pepper has never before been used in beer brewing and adds a spicy kick, while the hops provide bitterness to the flavor. 50% of the hops used are sourced from Poperinge.
Castalia Craft Beers
The Léonie beer will be available during the 2021 festivities in honor of Léonie Keingiaert. The beer is brewed by Castalia Craft Beers. You can already find it in many hospitality and retail establishments in Zonnebeke.
The beer was the winner of the 2020 regional products competition.
