Au cours de ce processus, le <strong>85e bataillon<\/strong>, \u00e9galement connu sous le nom de Nova Scotia Highlanders, a livr\u00e9 un combat acharn\u00e9 \u00e0 l&rsquo;endroit o\u00f9 ce monument les comm\u00e9more aujourd&rsquo;hui.<\/p>\n<h2>Le 85e bataillon<\/h2>\n<p>Le 85e Bataillon tente de d\u00e9fendre le flanc des groupes qui attaquent Passchendaele. Il y parvient et occupe le flanc est de la cr\u00eate tandis que les 72e et 78e Bataillons, \u00e0 leur gauche, prennent respectivement la ferme de Crest et la lisi\u00e8re sud de Passchendaele. Mais les pertes sont tr\u00e8s \u00e9lev\u00e9es.\u00a0 Le bataillon perd 391 des 688 hommes qui entrent dans la bataille.
