Des ma\u00eetres sculpteurs et des \u00e9tudiants du New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Insitute (NZMACI) de Rotorua, en Nouvelle-Z\u00e9lande, ont fabriqu\u00e9 ce totem en quatre ans \u00e0 partir <strong>d&rsquo;un bois indig\u00e8ne<\/strong> vieux de plus de 4 500 ans. Le Pou Maumahara porte le nom de \u00ab\u00a0<strong>Pohutokawa<\/strong>\u00ab\u00a0, qui fait r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 une \u00e9toile des Matariki (Pl\u00e9iades). Le terme \u00ab\u00a0Pohutokawa\u00a0\u00bb est associ\u00e9 aux personnes d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9es et constitue un rappel perp\u00e9tuel des \u00eatres chers disparus.
