Inaugur\u00e9 en 1924, le m\u00e9morial comm\u00e9more la participation de la Nouvelle-Z\u00e9lande \u00e0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toerismezonnebeke.be\/fr\/zien-en-doen\/bataille-de-broodseinde\/\">la bataille de Broodseinde<\/a> le 4 octobre 1917.<\/p>\n<h2>Capitaine Neville Henry<\/h2>\n<p>Les N\u00e9o-Z\u00e9landais parviennent ensuite \u00e0 prendre le Mittelriegel : une ligne de connexion entre les positions allemandes Wilhelm et <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toerismezonnebeke.be\/fr\/zien-en-doen\/stellungen\/\">Flandern I<\/a>. Ils font 1 200 prisonniers de guerre ce jour-l\u00e0.<\/p>\n<p>L&rsquo;attaque est consid\u00e9r\u00e9e comme un succ\u00e8s bien que 450 d&rsquo;entre eux soient tu\u00e9s. Parmi eux, le <strong>capitaine Neville Henry<\/strong> Arden du r\u00e9giment d&rsquo;Otago. Dans la vie quotidienne, cet architecte \u00e0 succ\u00e8s aimait s&rsquo;occuper des armes et du cricket. Ce soldat motiv\u00e9 a acquis une grande exp\u00e9rience en \u00c9gypte et en France avant de participer \u00e0 la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toerismezonnebeke.be\/fr\/zien-en-doen\/bataille-de-broodseinde\/\">bataille de Broodseinde<\/a>.
