Il est le fils de Georges Lemahieu et d&rsquo;Antoinette Declercq. C\u00e9libataire et travaillant comme m\u00e9canicien, Charles vivait avec sa grand-m\u00e8re Maria Delaere, qui tenait une \u00e9picerie \u00e0 Zonnebeke.<\/p>\n<p>Le dimanche 20 juin 1943, Charles est arr\u00eat\u00e9 apr\u00e8s avoir d\u00e9fi\u00e9 une sentinelle allemande et s&rsquo;\u00eatre enfui.<\/p>\n<p>Apr\u00e8s une courte poursuite, il est rattrap\u00e9. Les Allemands ont pr\u00e9tendu qu&rsquo;il transportait des documents \u00ab compromettants \u00bb, justifiant ainsi son arrestation.<\/p>\n<p>Charles est transf\u00e9r\u00e9 \u00e0 Courtrai, o\u00f9 il reste jusqu&rsquo;au 20 juin 1944, apr\u00e8s quoi il est d\u00e9port\u00e9 au camp p\u00e9nal de Siegburg.
