Here the New Zealanders who went missing near Polygon Forest in the winter of 1917-1918 are commemorated. In front of the hill is the Stone of Remembrance. A special feature of the cemetery is the lack of a Cross of Sacrifice. Those can be found at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toerismezonnebeke.be\/zien-en-doen\/polygon-wood-cemetery\/\">CWGC Polygon Wood Cemetery<\/a>. Both cemeteries are visually connected, which was also the intention when they were established.<\/p>\n<p>The memorial to the New Zealand Division is located at the intersection of Schipstraat and &#8216;s Graventafelstraat in the hamlet of &#8216;s Graventafel. Unveiled in 1924, the memorial commemorates the role of the New Zealand Forces during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toerismezonnebeke.be\/zien-en-doen\/geschiedenis-slag-bij-passendale\/\">Third Battle of Ypres<\/a>, more specifically the Battle of Broodseinde (4 October 1917). It is set in a specially landscaped park with poplars and Portuguese cherry laurel.
