On 20/05/2020, VZW Vredeslicht was founded. The non-profit organisation aims to spread the Bethlehem peace light as widely as possible in our country as a symbol of peaceful coexistence, respect, understanding and tolerance towards all people regardless of their religious, philosophical or political beliefs. It currently consists of a handful of people who, together with youth associations, want to connect cities and people with the peace light.
The association subscribes to the philosophy of ubuntu, a philosophy where everyone is part of society and wants to be open to any philosophical and political movement where human rights are respected.
On 17 December 2022, the Peace Light will be distributed from Ypres through four walks. In Zonnebeke, we will receive the Peace Light at the Castle Domain at 10h30. This will then set off on a beautiful 12-km walk towards Wervik.
